My daughter is currently 11 years old. I have been homeschooling her with an actual curriculum since she was four. My question to all you other homeschoolers is...given her age, what is your child's work load as far as chores go, or what will you expect out of your child when they are around this age? My parents didn't really put too much of a load on me until I was 13, aside from occasionally doing dishes and the dreaded "keep your room clean." My daughter's current chore list is as follows:
Everyday: help with ducks/goats in back yard (typically only takes 10 minutes twice/day)
Sunday: Clean her guinea pig's cage
Monday: Vacuum
Wednesday: Clean her guinea pig's cage
Friday: Vacuum
She also does the dishes (with a dishwasher) once or twice per week, typically cooks two meals per week, and also helps out with our dogs and cat (food/water). Her room has to be clean before she can go out and play *we use to have a huge problem with this. Her "curfew" is 6:30pm, although she can stay out an hour later on the weekends if she asks and did well during the week.
In your opinions, is this too much, just right, or not enough? What do you require of your kid(s)?
